Kawaii Kon announces first ’07 guests
Slipping past my notice in late August -- must've been all my vacation preparation -- was Kawaii Kon's announcement of its first guests for 2007.
Yes, there are the usual suspects -- voice actors Monica Rial, Jennifer Sekiguchi and Michael Sinterniklaas will return to the local anime convention for a third straight year, as will ADV producer David Williams (and presumably his wife, Janice, as well) and artists Robert and Emily DeJesus.
But new to the party will be two voice actors sought by local fans: Greg Ayres, who counts among his roles Negi Springfield in "Negima" and Chrono in "Chrono Crusade," and Luci Christian, who has landed roles in numerous ADV and Funimation productions.
Kawaii Kon is April 27 to 29 at the Hawai'i Convention Center; for more information, visit www.kawaii-kon.org ...
Download your anime
At Kawaii Kon's "sister" anime convention, Anime Weekend Atlanta, ADV announced it was starting a new anime digital download service.
English-dubbed episodes of 12 series are available for $4.99 each; the "Parasite Dolls" and "Lady Death" movies are also available for $19.99 each. The first episode of "Guyver" is available for free download.
Visit www.advuniverse.com for more details. But what I wonder is, will we see the ADV that supports its products with this enterprise, as we've seen with its anime division, or the ADV that lets things fall into neglect after an initial solid push, as in the manga division? ...
