Tripler getting new commander
Brig. Gen. Carla G. Hawley-Bowland will assume command of the Pacific Regional Medical Command and Tripler Army Medical Center at 2 p.m. Tuesday, relieving Maj. Gen. Gale S. Pollock.
Pollock, who has commanded Tripler since Aug. 11, 2004, has been assigned to the Office of the Surgeon General, where she will serve as deputy surgeon general and chief of the Army Nurse Corps in Falls Church, Va.
Hawley-Bowland has served as commanding general of the European Regional Medical Command/Command Surgeon, U.S. Army Europe, and 7th Army in Heidelberg, Germany, for two years. She received a biochemistry degree from Colorado State University, general medicine degree from Creighton University, and a master of strategic studies degree from the Army War College.
The Army will activate the 8th Theater Sustainment Command tomorrow at Schofield Barracks. Maj. Gen. William Brandenberg, deputy commander of U.S. Army Pacific, will serve as its leader. Army units that will fall under his command are the 29th Engineer Battalion, 125th Finance Battalion and the 84th Engineer Battalion. The mission of the 8th is to prepare the 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Pacific soldiers for worldwide deployment.
Rear Adm. John J. Donnelly, Pacific Fleet deputy and chief of staff, has been recommended for promotion to vice admiral and appointment as commander, Atlantic Fleet Submarine Force, and commander of Submarine Allied Command, Atlantic, in Norfolk, Va.
