Hawaiian Air on top
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, emerged on top of the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Stock Index this week, gaining 4.42 percent to close at $4.49 as oil prices fell. It was one of only three local stocks to gain during the week.
Hawaiian's stock is even better off year to date, with a gain of more than 12 percent, and over the past 12 months, up nearly 47 percent.
Other gainers for the week were Hoku Scientific, up 2.33 percent to close at $3.95, and ML Macadamia Orchards LP, up 0.94 percent to close at $5.46.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
