5 Pirates prospects to play for Sharks
Shortstop Brian Bixler, catcher Steven Lerud, outfielder Nyjer Morgan, and pitchers Wardell Starling and David Davidson will play for the Honolulu Sharks in the Hawaii Winter Baseball League.
All five players are prospects from the Pittsburgh Pirates' minor league system. Bixler was drafted in the second round of the MLB draft in 2004.
The season begins Oct. 1 and runs until Nov. 22.
Vulcans notch first women's soccer win
Karen Weatherby scored three goals, and Kehau Leite-Ah Yo and Sophie Milam each added a goal as Hawaii-Hilo recorded its first women's soccer win in school history, defeating Bethany University 5-2 yesterday in Oakland, Calif.
Kelly White added three assists for the Vulcans (1-3), who switched from a 4-4-2 to a 3-4-3 alignment in order to generate more offense.

Jonathan Baba, Nick Ver Colen, and Nick Schaffer also scored for the Vulcans, who improved to 2-2.
Chaminade rolls past Notre Dame
Trina Kauliakamoa hammered a match-high 18 kills to lead Chaminade to a sweep of Notre Dame de Namur 30-27, 30-28, 30-27 last night at McCabe Gym.
Marissa Miller had nine kills to lead the Argonauts, who dropped to 7-10.
Up next for the Silverswords (8-3) is a match against Kenyon University on Friday at McCabe Gym.
