Aloha Tower agency aims to create advisory board
The state Aloha Tower Development Corp. is seeking volunteers for a public advisory group to review a mixed-use development at Piers 5 and 6 in Honolulu Harbor.
Dallas-based developer Kenneth Hughes has proposed a $300 million mixed-use project, which in its first phase would include a 130-foot residential tower and retail complex at the piers.
The state agency is seeking candidates who have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
» Architecture (with emphasis on the "Hawaiian Sense of Place")
» Local culture and customs
» The maritime industry
» Real estate marketing and finance
» A community member from the immediate neighborhood
» Business member representing the immediate neighborhood
» Urban and regional planning
» Open space and recreational environment.
Sandra Pfund, chief executive officer of ATDC, said the board would select one advisory group member from each category, along with an alternate. The group would be expected to meet monthly to provide input.
Interested candidates must submit a resume and one-page letter explaining how they would contribute to the public participation effort. Deadline for the application is Sept. 30.
