Irons falls in Boost Mobile Pro

Hawaii's Andy Irons was eliminated in the fourth round of the Boost Mobile Pro in Trestles, Calif., yesterday by eventual champion Bede Durbridge, 13.06 to 10.70, in 3-to-5 feet of surf and light winds. Durbridge, of Australia, took home $30,000 in prize money.

UH women win Big Wave Invitational

The University of Hawaii women's cross country team won the team title of the Big Wave Invitational yesterday at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. UH junior Chantelle Laan had the best individual time in the 4K race at 15 minutes, 5 seconds.

Hawaii-Hilo finished fourth, Brigham Young-Hawaii fifth and Chaminade sixth.

BYUH finished second behind Houston in the 5K men's race, with Hawaii Pacific fourth, UH-Hilo fifth and Chaminade sixth.

BYUH women top HPU

The host Brigham Young University-Hawaii women's soccer team defeated Hawaii Pacific University, 2-0, yesterday in Laie to improve to 2-1 for the season. HPU fell to 0-2.

Heidi Bushman scored in the 59th minute for the Seasiders and Emily Mearns tacked on another goal in the 61st.

Glanville to speak at Honolulu QB Club

University of Hawaii defensive coordinator Jerry Glanville, Orange Hat Penguins running group's Stephanie Mew, and Hawaii Winter Baseball general manager Rob Farrow are the guest speakers at tomorrow's Honolulu Quarterback Club at the Pagoda Hotel.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. in the main ballroom. The general public is welcome.

Jones joins weekly Na Koa meetings

University of Hawaii football coach June Jones will meet with the Na Koa booster club every Monday at Willows Restaurant following both home and away games this season. He'll review game film and preview the team's next opponent.

The luncheons are open to Na Koa members and guests at $15 per person.
