Clemente leads HPU soccer over Hilo
Christian Clemente scored on a rebound and added an assist as Hawaii Pacific beat UH-Hilo 3-1 yesterday at the Waipio Soccer Complex.
Robert Geis gave the Vulcans the lead with a goal 18:37 into the game but Clemente answered for HPU 20 minutes later. Akihide Adachi gave HPU the lead at the 73:08 mark and Michael King scored for the Sea Warriors at 83:48.
Kauliakamoa helps Silverswords over Vulcans
Trina Kauliakamoa pounded 13 kills and Chaminade dropped UH-Hilo in a volleyball match last night at McCabe Gym. The Silverswords improved to 6-2 while the Vulcans dropped to 2-8. Chaminade visits conference leader Brigham Young-Hawaii tonight.
Ho advances in Ferrolterra Classic
Hawaii-born Mason Ho advanced to surf in the third day of the Ferrolterra Pantin Classic in Pantin, Spain, yesterday by besting Frenchmen Thomas Bady and Vincent Duvignac in 3-foot sets.
Fellow local surfer Tonino Benson was ousted by Gony Zubizarreta, of Spain. The tournament runs through Sept. 10 and carries $75,000 in prize money.
