E&O Trading Co. kicks it up a notch
IF YOU'RE a fan of E&O Trading Co. in Ward Centre, chances are you've already heard about the quality entertainment offerings available. A new Friday weekly, "Karma Sutra," kicked off a few weeks back for the club crowd, with DJs spinning music and a dance floor open until 2 a.m. Also popular is
Manoa DNA, playing every Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m.

But don't sleep on
Lauren Hayashi's Saturday gig at the restaurant. She teams up with
Terrence Kamisato every other week from 6 to 10 p.m. to play a nice variety of acoustic covers, including songs like "Stay" by
Lisa Loeb, "Who Will Save Your Soul" by
Jewel and
Dido's "Thank You." Kudos also go to Hayashi for her rendition of "Lights," my favorite
Journey song of all time.
Hayashi and Kamisato had the lounge packed by 8:30 p.m. a couple of weeks back, so your best strategy is to show up early and snag a table. Get there before 7 p.m. and you can enjoy E&O's "Marketplace Happy Hour," with $5 martinis and $4 wine specials ...
FRIDAY'S PICKS: British drum-n-bass superstar Goldie drops into Honolulu this weekend for a guest set at Indigo's "Get Fresh!" He'll be joined by DJs Oakason, Shawn G, Sovern-T and Jahson the 45 Revolver ... The O Lounge switches it up again this week with "Deuce," a new monthly party at the Kapiolani Boulevard nightspot. Wear all black and you'll get in free before 11 p.m. ... Augie Tulba continues with his "Comedy in the Community" tour. He'll be at Pope Elementary School in Waimanalo this week along with Champ Kaneshiro, Jose Dynamite, Timmy Mattos and Turk "The Hawaiian Hurricane" Cazimero. Tickets are just $10; doors open at 7 p.m. ...

MORE PICKS: Mixed martial arts fans will be at the Dole Cannery Ballroom on Saturday for "Punishment in Paradise: Unfinished Business," with bouts featuring the likes of
Ron Jhun,
Harris Sarmiento and
Kaleo Kwon. UFC veteran
Paul Buentello will also make an appearance ...
Flash Hansen and
Matty Hazelgrove return to Palomino on Saturday for another installment of "Two" ...
Justin Michaels is the featured guest at Bliss for "Casa" on Sunday ...
AFTER SEEING the breakdancing skills of Allen "Apl.de.ap" Pineda at the Black Eyed Peas concert last month, it's no surprise to hear what he was up to after the show.
Pineda, along with Peas manager Sean Larkin and guitarist George Pajon Jr., took in a Cirque Hawaii show. Maybe he was looking for some new moves to bust out on stage ...
THE BUZZ is building for "Gently Weeps," the new album by Jake Shimabukuro due Sept. 19. He's on tour in Japan, but will return for a release party at the Hawaii Convention Center on Sept. 30.
In the meantime, log on to www.vh1talentload.com and check out Shimabukuro's entries in an online talent contest presented by cable network VH1 ...
