Island Air books daily Kapalua-Kahului flight
Island Air will start flying direct daily from West Maui's Kapalua Airport to Maui's main air hub, Kahului Airport, beginning Tuesday.
"This non-stop route will make travel easier for West Maui residents and visitors traveling to an onward destination from Kahului by allowing them to bypass the more crowded security lines at Kahului Airport," said Island Air Chief Operating Officer Les Murashige, also citing traffic congestion on the heavily traveled road to Kahului.
"We understand the difficulty of driving between West Maui and the rest of the island, and we strongly support the Lahaina Bypass Now Committee.
We will continue doing our part to improve connections between Hawaii's communities."
Reservations on the new route No. 170 are now being accepted.
The flight will depart from Kapalua at 11:15 a.m., arriving in Kahului at 11:30 a.m. For the lowest fare, the company recommends booking at islandair.com.
