CELEBRATING A DUKE'S BIRTHDAY

Lei were draped over the statue of Duke Kahanamoku in Waikiki yesterday during festivities at the fifth annual Duke's OceanFest. Pamai Tenn, center, carried lei to be draped on the statue. The ocean sports festival coincides with the 116th anniversary of the birth of the legendary waterman (Aug. 24, 1890) and raises funds for the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation's college scholarship and athletic grants program. Events conclude today with a Waterman Challenge fronting Duke's Waikiki at 10 a.m. and Sunset on the Beach at 5 p.m. CLICK FOR LARGE

A giant Tyrannosaurus rex appeared to smile as children played in the slide area at yesterday afternoon's I Love Liliha Festival at Kawananakoa Elementary School.
