Ben & Jerry's selling $1 cones

Ben & Jerry's will celebrate its grand opening at Ward Centre by selling $1 ice cream cones from noon to 6 p.m. tomorrow. Proceeds will go toward the Honolulu Zoo's adoption program.

The ice cream shop will also adopt the zoo's spider monkeys in honor of the popular Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey flavor. The proceeds from the day will be used to upkeep the monkey enclosure.

Both the zoo and Ben & Jerry's will give away a birthday party for 20 people at the zoo, four behind-the-scenes primate tours, and Ben & Jerry's merchandise. The grand prize is a Sony PS2 game station. Festivities include music, a zoo exhibit, mask making and a four-person-team ice cream eating contest. For more information, call 593-7090.
