Guests beat afternoon heat at Sylvan Sub-Zero event
Invited guests beat the Thursday afternoon heat by attending a party at Sub-Zero/Wolf to check out the Sylvan Source home water purifying system. Sylvan's
Eugene Thiers came from Sunnyvale, Calif., to tell people about the system. There was much more than water available in the classy, modern $3 million Sub-Zero showroom besides water. Chef
Beverly Gannon whipped up delicious food at the large circular kitchen set up, one of several kitchen displays on the floor.
Bruce Watanabe's hard-working Catering Connection staff served delicacies to the likes of
Keith and
Jo Anne Vieira, Cha Thompson, Jeff and
Lynn Watanabe, Greg and
Cindy Nichols and
Stanley Hong. Wine was from
Kim Karalovich of Wine Stop, and Sub-Zero. Guests received a copy of the Hali'imaile General Store Cookbook written by Gannon with
Bonnie Friedman. Westye Group/Sub-Zero execs
Bob Riggs (what, another
Bobby Riggs???)
, Jean Nakanishi and
Buddy Moore made sure all went well. When
Max Curran, 3, son of food writer
Jo McGarry and
Bobby Curran, arrived with his mom, Max asked her, "Do you think they'll have crab legs?" Hey, the kid's only 3 and he's on his way to Gourmetville ...
