Artist honored in course catalog
In tribute to the late John Wisnosky, chairman of the University of Hawaii's Art Department, the Outreach College Fall 2006 catalog cover depicts a detail of Wisnosky's "For the Adventurers," a mural he created for the Hawai'i Convention Center. The catalog of noncredit courses will be available on campus and at racks around town on Aug. 7, and will be inserted Wednesday in the Honolulu Weekly. Order by phone, 956-5666, or online at
www.outreach.hawaii.edu.
COMING UP
Pirate ship approaches
Ahoy there, mateys! Put on an eye patch and your best pirate attitude and head out to Ko Olina Marina & Resort Wednesday as the Lynx, the schooner used to train the cast and crew of "Pirates of the Caribbean," sails into the harbor.
The ship will be flying the Jolly Roger and firing off cannons when it arrives, then the Lynx's pirate crew will haul a treasure chest ashore and bury it on the beach. The fun begins at 2 p.m.
The Lynx will be offering dockside tours ($5 donation), sailing adventures ($50 adults, $25 children) and sunset sails ($100 adults, $50 children) from Thursday to Sunday.
Call 866-446-5969 for reservations.
