CRIB NOTES

Fine furniture, perfectly staged

Take in the Martin & MacArthur floor sample and overstock sale today through Aug. 6, and you'll have help imagining how each piece would fit into a home setting.

Charene Davis of Aloha Staged Homes, assisted by a designer, an artist and a furniture gallery owner, has arranged the showroom at 1815 Kahai St. with vignettes of living arrangements to help shoppers envision items in their own homes. Davis, a former real estate agent, stages homes that are for sale, giving potential buyers a feel for the space as their future home.

Call Martin & MacArthur at 845-6688 or visit martinandmacarthur.com.

Time's running out for all those with rusty tools in the shed; the Monday deadline is fast approaching to enter those tools in the "Ugly Tool Contest."

Just e-mail rusty@theruststore.com with a photo of a tool that has fallen to the "ravages of rust," along with an essay of up to 100 words of why your tool should win and you should receive a prize of rust-fighting materials that will help make the tool beautiful again.

Color palette focus of StyleIn workshop

Make friends with color with the help of interior designers Marion Philpotts-Miller and Jonathan Staub during Pacific Home's StyleIn next month, "Decode Color."

Philpotts-Miller and Staub will help demystify the task of choosing colors, whether it be for living room walls, sofa or drapes. One of the main topics will be the color palette, how to create the best color scheme for your home and how to organize and highlight as well as enhance interiors with color.

The designers are cousins who have worked on residential and commercial projects, dividing their time between San Francisco's interior design firm Your Space and Hawaii's Philpotts & Associates.

Complimentary wine, soft drinks and light pupus will be served during the 5:30-7 p.m. free workshop on Aug. 9 at 420 Ward Ave.

Call 596-3558.
