David Hustace / former isle resident
David Hustace, 75, formerly of Hawaii, died Nov. 25 in Austin, Texas.
He was a descendant of Curtis and Victoria Robinson Ward, whose historic Kakaako landholdings were developed into the Ward Centers retail and entertainment complex. The family company, Victoria Ward Ltd., was sold in 2002 for $250 million.
Hustace was retired as a civil engineer for the Texas state government. He was a graduate of the University of Texas. Born in Hawaii, he and other family members left the islands after Pearl Harbor was attacked and World War II began.
He is survived by wife Nancy, sons John A. and David A., and daughter Susan M., all of Texas. Also surviving are brothers Frank W. Jr. and Edward of Honolulu, Walter of Oklahoma and Cedric of Indiana.
Services were held in Austin.
