» Two players with Hawaii ties were named midseason minor league all-stars by Baseball America. Catcher Kurt Suzuki (Baldwin, Cal State Fullerton) made the Double-A team, and first baseman Kala Kaaihue (Iolani, South Mountain Community College) made the Low Class A team for his stint with the Rome Braves. He was promoted to High Class A on June 20.
Suzuki was also chosen to represent to United States in the Futures Game last Sunday. He went 0-for-1 in the U.S.'s 3-2 win over the World Team at Pittsburgh's PNC Park as part of Major League Baseball's All-Star festivities.
» The Blue Jays called up Brandon League (Saint Louis) from Triple-A Syracuse on July 8.
» Tyler Yates earned his first major league save during Atlanta's 11-inning win over the Padres on Friday.
» Dusty Bergman (Hawaii) asked for and recieved his release from the New York Yankees' Triple-A team in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday. The left-hander signed with the Fresno Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League on Thursday, although he has yet to make an appearance.
» Bronson Sardinha (Kamehameha) was promoted from the Double-A Trenton Thunder to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers on Friday.
» Chad Santos (Saint Louis) had six runs batted in Thursday in the Fresno Grizzlies' 8-5 victory over the Colorado Sky Sox.
» Keoni DeRenne (Iolani, Arizona), an infielder, was transferred from the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox to the Double-A Portland Seadogs on Wednesday.
