The Contessa finishes first in yacht race
The Contessa, a double-handed sloop out of Alameda, Calif., was the first to arrive into Kaneohe Bay at 11:41 a.m yesterday, leading the fleet in the 14th Biennial West Marine Pacific Cup.
The Contessa, with Shawn Throwe and Neil Weinberg aboard, were part of the division which started on July 3. Lightning, which started on July 6, was expected in late yesterday, which would make the Santa Cruz 55 from Washington the unofficial overall winner on handicap time.
ET, Siderno and Mureadritta's XL, were also expected before midnight. Some 20 more yachts are expected to arrive today.
The 2,040-mile transpacific race began July 3 out of Richmond (Calif.) Yacht club with 42 entries.
AYSO soccer camp in Pearl City
An AYSO soccer camp for ages 5-18 will be held Monday through Friday at Waiau Field in Pearl City.
The cost runs from $45 for under-8 new players, $65 for U8-U10, to $99 for U12-U19.
