On the Scene
ED GOT A BRAND-NEW SHIRT:
Ed Wray, center, owner of Auntie Pasto's, ended the lunch shift in a new "Movin' Out" T-shirt Wednesday when Broadway Across America execs Bruce Granath and Safir Keller co-hosted a luncheon press conference at the restaurant. "Movin' Out," which features 24 Billy Joel songs in a show created by Twyla Tharp, opens in the Blaisdell Concert Hall Sept. 8. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at the Blaisdell Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 877-750-4400 and online at www.ticketmaster.com
SWEETIE STAYED UP:
Sweetie Pacarro gets up in the middle of the night to do the morning show at KSSK, but she was bright-eyed and full of energy as she watched video highlights of "Movin' Out." The food was worth staying up for, and Pacarro's morning-show colleagues, Larry Price and Michael W. Perry, missed a great lunch.
A CUTE COUPLE:
Steve Knox of Ballet Hawaii shared a table with Deanna Luster at the "Movin' Out" press conference. He's working on Ballet Hawaii's August production of "Sleeping Beauty"; she's the assistant choreographer of Hawaii Opera Theatre's upcoming "The King & I."
LEARN FROM THE BEST:
R. Kevin Doyle, left, director of the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival production of "Much Ado About Nothing," talked with his mentor, Terence Knapp, Sunday during intermission at the Ernst Lab Theatre. The show -- well worth seeing -- closes with performances at 7:30 p.m. today and 3 p.m. tomorrow.
Versatile actors Tauri Kinoshita, left, and Stephanie Sanchez enjoyed a smoke break near the Ernst Lab Theatre during intermission on Sunday. Kinoshita will star as Cleopatra when the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival presents "Antony and Cleopatra" in the Lab Theatre at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
