Mall gets Juicy and Theory
If sweats are all that come to mind when you think of Juicy Couture, you're in the Dark Ages. That was, like, so 2001.
The brand once synonymous with track suits, rompers and mini-skirts made of cashmere, terry cloth and velour, has grown up, expanding into jewelry, watches, purses, swimwear and kidswear.
Hawaii shoppers can catch up now that Juicy has opened a stand-alone boutique at Ala Moana Center.
Juicy was always known for accentuating womanly curves, and while there are signs the line is becoming more New York than L.A., no worries. Little black dresses are still made of comfy, drapey cotton Spandex, and terry short shorts, from about $88, haven't gone away.
Also opening its doors at Ala Moana yesterday, Theory offers a no-frills approach to urban style, all sleek lines and a neutral slate of colors -- the preferred look of the thin, young, upwardly mobile woman. T-shirts start at about $55; dresses average $200.
