Fields Open donates $83,000 to charities

Local charities have received $83,000 from proceeds generated by the inaugural Fields Open in Hawaii.

The donations from the LPGA event held in February at Ko Olina Resort were distributed through Friends of Hawaii Charities. Among the organizations receiving funds were the Waianae Coast Community Mental Health Center, Special Olympics Hawaii, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, Children's Discovery Center, Nanakuli High and Intermediate School, Nanakuli Housing Corporation, The First Tee, and Parents and Children Together (PATCH).

The Girl Scout Council of Hawaii also received a $20,000 donation.
