Sapporo beats Island Movers in Japan
Daniel Payne pitched five innings, gave up only four hits, and didn't walk anybody, but the three runs he surrendered in the first inning were enough for Sapporo University to beat the Hawaii Island Movers 3-2 yesterday at Sapporo, Japan.
The Movers got a run in the top of the fifth and another in the top of the sixth, but couldn't quite claw back. Brett Tanigawa and Chad Itokazu had two hits each, but the Movers left 11 on base.
The Movers are on a road swing in Japan through July 14.
