Sharing a taste of the islands in D.C.
Cecilia Suyat Marshall, wife of late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and Audrey Case, wife of Hawaii Congressman Ed Case, hosted a recent luncheon in Washington, D.C., with a dual purpose -- to showcase foods of Hawaii and celebrate the Filipino Centennial.
Actually, it was a triple purpose as the "Taste of Aloha" event, organized by the Congressional Club, made up of spouses of prominent politicos, raised funds for various charities. The Hawaii connection through Case is obvious; Marshall is also from Hawaii and of Filipino descent.
Guests at the function were served Maui Gold pineapple and received gift bags of macadamia nut candies and Kona coffee. Tropical flowers from Hilo decorated tables.
