Maui fighter wins in Vegas
WITH his family in attendance and the crowd on his side, mixed martial artist
Kendall Grove won the middleweight division final of Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter 3" on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
"He's like my new little brother," said Grove's coach (and now Ultimate Fighting Championship co-worker) Tito Ortiz. The Maui native spent the final 30 seconds of the fight with his arms wrapped around opponent Ed Herman's neck, earning a unanimous decision after Herman refused to tap out.
"I had that one in tight," Grove said of the attempted rear naked choke. "I thought it was gonna be a split (decision).This was the hardest fight I ever took."
