2 new medical sites open in East Honolulu
Two new health care facilities have opened in East Honolulu -- Kahala Urgent Care mauka of Kahala Mall at 4218 Waialae Ave. and the Queen's Medical Center outpatient ambulatory center in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center.
Kahala Urgent Care is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. No appointment is necessary.
The facility is always staffed by emergency medicine doctors and specialty trained staff, according to the owner, Dr. Robert Ruggieri, board-certified/residency trained emergency physician.
Ruggieri has more than 15 years of emergency medicine experience, with the last seven years as attending emergency physician at the Queen's Medical Center.
"Kahala Urgent Care will help fill a void for residents and employees on Oahu needing same-day care for minor emergencies," he said. "Patients will benefit from having easier access to timely, affordable medical care at a reasonable price."
Kahala Care uses the latest technology and offers a range of medical services.
The Queen's Medical Center, the Queen's Health Care Centers and Diagnostic Laboratory Services opened the 11,000-square-foot outpatient center in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, overlooking Koko Marina Waterfront.
The center offers five or six full-time physicians and many specialty services, including obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, cardiology, oncology, podiatry, dermatology and rheumatology.
Bone density, mammography and general radiology diagnostic imaging services are available, as well as cardiac non-invasive services and a Diagnostic Laboratory Services station.
The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
