Maui Land & Pineapple Co. was the sole winning stock in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin stock index this week. The company eked out a gain of 0.22 percent to close at $35.88 for the week, which saw the index decline more than 3 percent.
Year to date, Maui Land is up nearly 6 percent; over the last 12 months it is down almost 10 percent.
Two other stocks, ML Macadamia Orchards LP and Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., came within a point of breaking even for the week.
Hardest hit during the week was Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., down more than 18 percent to close at 0.9 cents.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
