COMING UP
Island living with an edge
The phrase "Island Style" doesn't typically conjure up visions of steel and industrial material, but the juxtaposition makes an intriguing topic for architectural designer Michael Nelms, speaker for this month's "StyleIn" workshop at Pacific Home.
Nelms will show how such industrial elements and high-tech concepts can still relate to tropical lifestyles, with walls that roll or slide, tables that move or pull double duty, windows that frame objects or open with unusual motions, and doors that greet the homeowner with exciting movements.
Join Nelms, founder of HyPeArc Design and Build in Los Angeles, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Pacific Home showroom, 420 Ward Ave., across from Sports Authority, and enjoy complimentary wine, soft drinks and light pupu. Call 596-9338 for more information.
