Brennan on Maxwell watch list
Hawaii junior quarterback Colt Brennan was named to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the nation's top collegiate football player.
As a sophomore last year in his first season at UH, Brennan led the nation in touchdown passes (35), passing yards (4,301), passing average (358.4 yards), total offense (371.3) and points responsible for (19.17).
He's one of 60 players on the list, which includes 26 other quarterbacks.
Wright makes Baseball America second team
Hawaii pitcher Steven Wright was picked to his third All-America team yesterday.
Wright earned second-team All-America honors from Baseball America.
Previously, Wright, who went 11-2 for the Rainbows, made the National Baseball Foundation and Louisville Slugger All-America teams.
Wright was drafted by the Cleveland Indians last week in the second round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Hawaii gets AYSO National Games in 2008
The American Youth Soccer Organization National Games will be held in Hawaii in July 2008.
Fifteen teams from Hawaii will participate in the games along with teams across the country. This year's games in Chicago will have 192 teams with players ranging in age from 11 to 19.
Hawaii hosted the national games in 2002.
The games are held every two years at sites determined by AYSO's Tournament Commission.
UH football season tickets go on sale June 26
Season tickets for the University of Hawaii football season go on sale June 26, and Rainbow Wahine volleyball season tickets go on sale July 7.
Season tickets can be purchased and printed online on buyers' personal computers through HawaiiAthletics.com.
The football team's home opener is Sept. 16 against UNLV. The Rainbow Warriors also play at home against Eastern Illinois, Nevada, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, San Jose State, Purdue and Oregon State.
The women's volleyball team opens its season Sept. 1 at home against Florida in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
