Made-in-Hawaii on tap
This month's "Hops and Grinds" beer tasting at the Willows will feature made-in-Hawaii beers.
Featured at the event -- from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday -- will be Big Aloha Brewery, Brew Moon, Keoki Brewing Co. (Kauai) and Mehana Brewing Co. (the Big Island).
The beers will be served with chef Jay Matsukawa's all-you-can-eat pupu buffet.
Tickets are $25 in advance, available at the Willows, Liquor Collection, Wine Stop, Tamura's Kaimuki, or by calling 952-9200. Tickets will be $30 at the door.
The event will include a drawing for a trip for two on the Willows' California Beer Odyssey, a tour of Californian craft breweries.

Absolut'ly Ruby Red
ABSOLUT's new, grapefruit-flavored vodka -- Ruby Red -- will be showcased at Morton's, the Steakhouse, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Cocktails made with the new liquor will be served with filet mignon sandwiches, crab cakes and hot chocolate cakes.

Taste in good company

Wine tour with six tastings and one admission ticket is $20; 10 tastings and one admission ticket is $27.25.
The three-day festival runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m. June 23, noon to 10 p.m. June 24 and noon to 7 p.m. June 25 at the Honolulu Civic Center. The cost is $4 for general admission, $2 for seniors and no cost for children under 12. Free parking is available in the underground city lot with access from Beretania and Alapai streets. The Mac way
A Vegan Macrobiotic cooking class, featuring Italian food, will be offered Saturday. A subsequent class, focusing on Mexican food, is available on June 24. Both classes take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Hawaii Leisure Center. The cost per class is $40. Call 956-6468.

Foodies Kapalua-bound
The 25th annual Kapalua Wine and Food Festival takes place July 6 to 9 on Maui. Highlights include "In the Kitchen with Julian Serrano," "Master Sommelier 103," and a cooking demonstration by Ming Tsai. But there are too many exciting choices to list. Master Sommelier Fred Dame hosts the sybaritic event.
Four-day admission price is $650 per person; wine tour is $40 per person. Cooking demos and wine seminars run from $100 to $175 per event. Grand Tasting and Seafood Festival costs $125 to $145 per event.
