Cathy gives 10 inches of hair to Locks for Love for ill kids

Cathy Foy-Mahi was in Dixie Grill Tuesday night, looking a bit different. That's because the performer and former Miss Hawaii donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks for Love. The organization provides wigs for ill children who have lost their hair. Cathy's Dixie "Crabfest" dinner companions were Rex Nockengust, Steve Harmon and Garrett Saikley ... Billy and Merriam Olds are back home for a visit. Billy, a retired Army colonel who speaks Arabic, is working in Iraq for an American company. Ed Gayagas, another retired Army colonel, is having a party for them this weekend ... Becker Communications has a new junior account exec in Lucas Witherspoon Chouari, born on April 19. Lucas' parents are Becker Veep Caroline Witherspoon and the firm's project manager Laurent Chouari ... Birthday greetings go to Lani Jennings, daughter of attorney Mike and Estelle Green and mom of Hoku-nominated singer Anelaikalani, who celebrated Thursday ...

Tickets went on sale yesterday for Garrison Keillor's Nov. 11 "A Prairie Home Companion" shows at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. The programs will be presented at 12:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as the finale of Hawaii Public Radio's 25th anniversary season. Tickets are priced from $15 to $55. Seats in the two front rows of the orchestra will not be sold until the day of the concerts and will go for a bargain $25 each. That seems like a Keillor touch ...

Dave and Nery Heenan celebrate 39th on Lanai

Dave and Nery Heenan celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary last weekend on Lanai at the Lodge at Koele. Nery raved about the visit. Last Saturday was not only the couple's anniversary, it was graduation day for 43 seniors at Lanai High. Vivacious Nery, originally from the Philippines, said most of the grads were Filipino and although she didn't know any of them, she went to the ceremony in the school gym "for the fun of it" and was so happy she did. "It was a beautiful, very touching event," she said. "I cried." Nery said she and Dave, a Campbell Estate trustee and an author of several books, enjoyed the music of pianist-singer Kimo Garner in Koele Lodge's lobby. "He even sang "Dahil Sa Iyo" for us," she said ...
