Kayak surfing competition this weekend
Seven-time state kayak champion Craig Stenstrom is scheduled to defend his title Saturday and Sunday at the Seventh Annual Surf Aloha Kayak Surfing Competition at Kalaeloa's White Plains Beach.
Eighty to 100 local, mainland and military entrants are expected in several categories to compete for prizes, trophies and a raffle.

Junior Olympics summer program kicks off
The 2006 Junior Olympics Summer Track program holds its first meet of the season Saturday at the University of Hawaii's Cooke Field. The meet begins at 7:30 a.m.
Regular season meets are scheduled each Saturday through July 8, but future sites are to be determined because Cooke Field is scheduled for renovation during the summer.
Individual championships are July 15, followed by the Aloha State Games meet July 22 and relay championships June 29 at Punahou.
The National Junior Olympics Championships are July 25-30 in Baltimore, Md.
The Honolulu Marathon Association has donated $5,000 to the Hawaii program.

11 teams off to U.S. Youth Soccer regionals
Eleven local soccer teams are headed for the U.S. Youth Soccer Regional championships, June 18-25, in Boise, Idaho, after having recently won state titles.
Regional winners move on to the national tournaments, July 25-30, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hawaii champions from the under-12 through U-18 age divisions are: HSC Bulls 94 (U-12 girls and boys), Leahi 93 Premier (U-13 girls), HSC Bulls 92 (U-14 girls and boys), Leahi 91 Premier (U-15 girls), Leahi 90 Premier (U-16 girls), Leahi 89 Premier (U-17 girls), Real COPA 89 (U-17 boys), HSC Bulls 88 (U-18 girls and boys).
Vulcans sign 2 for men's soccer team
Hawaii-Hilo yesterday announced the addition of two Oahu student-athletes to its new men's soccer program.
Moanalua product Jonathan Baba and Radford alumnus Ryan Hardwick will join the Vulcans next season, the school said.
Inline hockey skills camp offered
Two coaches from the Shreveport Mudbugs will conduct an Oahu Inline Hockey League skills camp June 12-15 at Kamiloiki Rink in Hawaii Kai.
Monday and Tuesday is for first-time skaters ages 10 and under. Wednesday and Thursday is for advanced teaching and drills for ages 10 to adult.
