Carol Yap marks her 86th birthday at Kahaluu party

It was a culinary and musical feast at Carol Yap's 86th birthday luau on Memorial Day at the Yap family's home at Kahaluu Fish Pond. "Karate Kid II" was filmed on the property in 1986. Besides Danny, taking part were: Jimmy Borges, Rene Paulo, Bill Kaiwa, Stuart Featheran, Momilani Balutzki, Walter Kau and Nephi and Gus Hannemann. Gus also read a congratulatory message from his brother, Mayor Mufi Hannemann. Kanoe Cazimero and Linda Wong, the birthday girl's daughter, danced hula. Sen. Donna Kim did a Samoan dance to "Siva" as Nephi and Gus sang. Kalua pig and turkey were dinner highlights, along with Haagen-Dazs treats from Don Kim and son, Jason. Christopher Wong, Carol's grandson and Linda's son, flew in from L.A. for the party ...
