Wichmann invited to NCAA championships
Hawaii sophomore Annett Wichmann has been officially invited to the NCAA Track and Field Championships, becoming the first Rainbow Wahine to earn a spot in the meet since 2001.
Wichmann is among 28 athletes who will compete in the heptathlon at the meet, which runs June 7-10 at Sacramento State's A.G. Spanos Sports Complex.
Wichmann posted 5,374 points to win the heptathlon at the Western Athletic Conference championships on May 11 at Cooke Field, earning an NCAA provisional mark in the process.
Wichmann is the first UH athlete to qualify for the NCAA meet since Cheryl Smith finished 12th in the 10,000 meters in 2001.
