MARILYN TRANKLE always wears a dazzling gown to fundraising balls, and the creation she wore at last Saturday's Symphony Ball was another prize-winner. She describes it as a
Tadashi with net overlay, draped in Grecian style. Oookay, but, in my humble fashion critique, she was outdone by
Deida Bourne's couture number by
Victor Costa. Well, not exactly outdone. The gown originally belonged to Marilyn. Ah, the world of fashion intrigue. "I donated the Victor Costa dress to 'Act II,' a Hawaii Opera Theatre fashion show and benefit held last month," Marilyn said. "Deida modeled the wool crepe gown with taffeta pouf sleeves and a taffeta demi-train, accented with a large bow, and purchased it at the event," Marilyn said. "Deida and I are great friends. She's always said she wanted to shop my closet, and now she has!" Deida says Costa has been one of her favorite designers for 30 years. "He tries to make women look like the woman they want to be," she said. "Can't beat black or the classic line of a long sheath. The dress makes anyone look tall and curvy. Add a touch of taffeta for elegance" ...
