All Weekend
Ray Sowders, 7 p.m. at Brew Moon. Call 593-0088.
Those who lamented the demise of evening entertainment at Brew Moon have reason to celebrate this weekend.
Dinner guests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings now have the Hawaiian music stylings of Ray Sowders to accompany their meals from 7 to 9 p.m.
You'll have lots of time to eat, enjoy a few microbrews, and then clear out before the club kids show up at 10 p.m.
Friday
Syllabus, 9:30 p.m. at Cafe Che Pasta. Call 524-0004.
Hot on the heels of nearby Spada's new Saturday weekly, Cafe Che Pasta kicks off its own Friday night party this weekend.
Called "Syllabus," the night promises "a breath of fresh air with the rebirth of cool," with as-yet-unannounced DJs spinning a mix of hip-hop, neo soul and dancehall in a lounge-like atmosphere.
Also planned during the 21-and-over party are live poetry performances and visual art displays.
Thursday
Israel Vibration, 9 p.m. at Pipeline Cafe. Tickets: $32. Call 589-1999.
Jamaican reggae group Israel Vibration returns to Honolulu next week for the first time since 1997. Group members Cecil Spence and Lascelle Bulgin have been together since the 70's, with their most recent album being 2003's "Live and Jammin."
Local bands Natural Vibrations and Dubkonscious will open, with selectas from Pacific Sounds Outernational spinning platters between sets.
