Sarah Richards, president of the Hawaii Theatre Center, welcomed Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, left, Dr. Lawrence K.W. Tseu and Jim Nabors to "CarniVale!," a gala fundraiser at the Kahala Hotel & Resort May 6.
A well-dressed crowd of 380 Hawaii Theatre supporters raised more than $447,000 for the theater while enjoying a party-opening parade of Mardi Gras-style performers, followed by dinner, and tropical-themed cabaret performances by Joey Caldarone, Leslie Goldman, Shawna Masuda and Candes Meijide Gentry (the elephant, last seen in Jack Cione's "Mardi Gras Follies" at the Hawaii Theatre in February, is hiding behind Richards and her guests).
