Apple may open Kahala Mall store
Kahala Mall is in lease talks with Apple Computer Inc. for a possible second Hawaii Apple Store.
"We're talking to them but we don't have any kind of lease or deal yet," said Ron Yoda, general manager of the mall. Lease negotiations can take quite a bit of time, he observed.
Kahala Mall has been the focus of much attention since a freak March 31 flood caused yet-untotaled damage to the mall and many of its stores.
Borders Express already has decided not to reopen.
Gap and Gap Kids' leases expired March 31 leaving 9,000 square feet available along with the 2,600 square feet of the Macy's Lifestyle space. Kahala Kids will move into the Macy's Lifestyle space, while Marsha Nadalin Salon & Spa will assume the Kahala Kids space.
