Police seek boyfriend in alleged kidnapping

Honolulu police are looking for a 22-year-old man who allegedly held his girlfriend against her will over the weekend.

The girlfriend, 23, said that at about 3 p.m. Friday, her boyfriend dragged her into her Honolulu apartment and kept her there until 10 a.m. Saturday. The boyfriend also allegedly choked her before he eventually left the apartment.

Police are investigating the case as abuse and kidnapping.

Man is arrested in alleged robbery

A customer helped police catch a 37-year-old man suspected of robbing a lone convenience store cashier at knifepoint on Kalakaua Avenue near Makaloa Street yesterday afternoon.

Police said the man entered a Kalakaua Avenue convenience store at 4:47 p.m., pointed a knife at the cashier and demanded money.

Police said the 43-year-old female cashier stepped away from the counter, and the man tried to open the cash register himself.

When the man was unable to get any cash out of the register, he fled the store.

A person inside the store followed the suspect and reported the man's whereabouts to police.

Patrol units found the man and arrested him for felony robbery.

Man arrested nearly a year after burglary

After nearly a year, police arrested a suspect in a Kailua burglary.

Police said the residents secured their home at about noon that day. Then, at about 1:15 p.m., the homeowners returned to find their home was broken into and items missing.

In July, police had identified the suspect from latent fingerprints police recovered at the entry point, police said.

Police had been unable to locate him until Wednesday, when he agreed to meet police at the Kailua Police Station.

He turned himself in and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
