BYUH tennis tops HPU in West Regional
The No. 2-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii women's tennis team defeated Hawaii Pacific 5-0 yesterday in the championship match of the NCAA Division II West Regional at Laie.
The Seasider women will face Barry in the first round of the NCAA II Tournament on Wednesday, while the BYUH men's team drew an opening-round bye and will face either Eckard or Barry.
Smethurst pitches perfect game for UH
University of Hawaii pitcher Justine Smethurst fired a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Utah State yesterday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, striking out six for her second flawless game of the year.
The Rainbow Wahine improved to 26-19 and 8-6 in the Western Athletic Conference while the Aggies fell to 7-37 and 2-13 in the WAC.
It was the fourth perfect game for the Rainbow Wahine this season, and the second for Smethurst. She improved to 13-10 for the year.
