He also was a co-founder of the Stay Straight Program (Ike Na Paahau) and player for the semipro Windward Hawks football team. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Kulamanu "Manu"; sons Russell I., Kekauhiokalani "Kauhi" and Micah L.; daughter Russlynn Gonsalves; brothers Rudolph, Arthur and Marcus Halualani; sisters Estelle Drew, Carol Bright, Loretta Morgan, Leialoha Kaluhiwa and Kamailehua Halualani-Hee; and five grandchildren.
