Cardinal beat Wahine for MPSF water polo title

Lauren Silver scored twice to lead Stanford past Hawaii for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo championship yesterday in Irvine, Calif.

Christina Hewko put the Cardinal up for good at 4-3 with a second-quarter goal.

Kristy Bagnall, Iefke Van Belkum and Kelly Mason scored the Rainbow Wahine's goals.

With the victory, Stanford (22-4) earned an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament, May 12-14, at UC Davis.

Hawaii (17-10) is hoping to get one of three at-large berths.

UH coed sailors finish fourth in San Francisco

The University of Hawaii coed sailing team finished in fourth place at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association Dinghy Championships yesterday.

Hawaii finished with 143 points, behind champion USC (103), second-place Stanford (133) and third-place UC Irvine (137).
