COSTUMES NOT REQUIRED
JOHN BERGER / JBERGER@STARBULLETIN.COM
Ash and Kimi Matar, seated, third and fourth from left, treated eight friends to an evening of dining and entertainment at Diamond Head Theatre's spring fundraiser, "Come As We Were," at Waialae Country Club April 15. The official invitation suggested that guests dress in costumes representing their favorite Broadway musicals of the 1950s, and many did rent costumes from the DHT costume shop. But the Matars told their guests to skip the costumes, come as themselves, and enjoy the party at their table in the corner. DHT entertainer Cathy Foy, standing, welcomed the Matars and their guests: Dr. Terry Vernoy, left, his wife, Chilean Consul General Gladys Vernoy, Simone and Don Berlin, Mary Chang of Louis Vuitton, Marissa Gey, and her husband, Fendi general manager Patrick Gey.
