HPD worker pleads guilty to downloading porn on job
A Honolulu Police Department employee pleaded guilty yesterday to four counts of unauthorized computer access after he allegedly downloaded tens of thousands of pornographic pictures and movies on his work computers.
Richard Rapozo, 66, could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each count.
Prosecutors said Rapozo, a data analyst for HPD's Information Technology Division, downloaded more than 60,000 pornographic pictures and more than 3,000 pornographic movies using four work computers from 2003 to 2005.
An Oahu grand jury indicted Rapozo on the charges in December, and his attorney entered a plea of guilty for each of the four counts yesterday during a change-of-plea hearing at Circuit Court, saying that his client wanted to put all of this behind him.
"After looking at everything, he decided that he would just like to resolve the matter and move on," said Rapozo's attorney, Scott Collins.
A sentencing date for Rapozo has been set for 9 a.m. Aug. 9.
