Buddhist teacher to discuss healing
A Tibetan Buddhist teacher will speak here next week on spiritual techniques to relieve personal suffering, heal the body and understand the process of dying and rebirth.
Tulku Orgyen Zangpo Rinpoche, who was born in Tibet and teaches in the United States and Europe, will give a public lecture at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Waimea Valley Arboretum pavilion. He will discuss "Compassion in Action: Dissolving Pain and Creating Joy."
He will present a workshop next Saturday on ancient methods for healing the body, mind and spirit, and on April 30 on "Dying and Passing Beyond, Bardo Teaching." The classes from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will be at Kailua Shambala Center, Aikahi Park Shopping Center. The cost is $75 per session, with discounts available. To register, call 638-9091.
Waipahu festival has the country feeling
The Waipahu United Church of Christ will revive the "country feeling" of Waipahu town next Saturday at its Spring Bazaar.
Homemade jams and baked goods will be on sale in the Country Store. Handicrafts, fresh plants and white-elephant treasures will be sold. Rotisserie chicken and other food will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the church grounds at 94-330 Mokuola St., near the Waipahu bus transit station.
