'Redda Fire' returns

AFTER A four-month hiatus, DJ Jahson the 45 Revolver is bringing back his popular "Redda Fire" reggae weekly.

Tonight is the jump-off at the Living Room, down Ala Moana Boulevard from its previous home at the former Waikiki location of Ye Olde Fox and Hounds. Bonus points if you remember that "Redda Fire" originally started last May at the Kahala Fox and Hounds -- before neighbors' complaints shut the restaurant down.

"This may allow me to do what I want," said Jahson of the new Thursday party. "Maybe I can take the weekends off."

Along with a Friday night residency at Indigo, he often spins three times a week at other venues. If "Redda Fire" catches on at the Living Room, watch for Jahson to pull back on Fridays and Saturdays here in favor of possible neighbor island gigs ...

IT'S AWFULLY hard to forget someone like Gina Hiraizumi. I first noticed her in the movie "Soap Girl" when it screened here in 2003.

The pretty Japanese-American actress from Southern California returns to Honolulu this weekend for a series of autograph sessions in support of "The Hot Spot," an independent DVD release that was written, directed and produced by Larenz Tate. She also starred as Jason Scott Lee's love interest in the WWII movie "Only the Brave," scheduled for theatrical release later this year.

You've got chances to meet Hiraizumi all weekend. She'll appear at Rumble on the Rock tomorrow before heading to Zanzabar Nightclub and the O Lounge, while Saturday will find her at Fashion 45, the Ocean Club and the W Honolulu. She's also scheduled to sign autographs at Best Buy on Sunday, starting at noon ...

THAT SHOW next month by The Alkoholiks got pushed up a day, now set for May 25 at the O Lounge. I've also been informed that Luniz member Yukmouth and the Heiroglyphics' Opio will perform there on May 18, with DJ Doggfather on hand for the afterparty. Call 944-8436 for more info ...

MORE PICKS for this weekend: Doc Martin makes another stop at NextDoor tomorrow, with DJ Ira opening ... Another reason to visit Chinatown tomorrow is the "Speak Out Smart Party" at Ong King, featuring Shoko Kono, Pocket Hero and X-Factor. Doors open at 8 p.m. ... Artist Groove Network and Matty Liu have teamed up to bring "Chemistry" to Longhi's at Ala Moana Center on Saturday ... Sunday brings two chances for ladies to get glamourous in a club setting. "The Women's Closet" runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the O Lounge, and features discounted apparel and a fashion show by local designer Taryn Ogawa. At Pipeline Cafe, the Ulupono Academy hosts "Got Style?" from 5 to 10 p.m. ...

TIME FOR a few days of rest and relaxation -- I'm going on vacation! In the Mix returns on May 4 ...
