Video on Judge King, narrated by Bennett, is birthday high
A VIDEO on Federal Judge
Sam King and narrated by Attorney General
Mark Bennett was a highlight of the judge's 90th birthday party at the Halekulani Thursday. Speakers included attorneys
Randy Roth, Tom Mui and
Doug Ushijima, who works in the judge's office. They emphasized that when the judge is on the bench he doesn't mess around. He cuts to the chase and keeps things brief. And that's how he kept his thank you to the 200 people who attended -- brief. The party was thrown by King's many former law clerks and was co-chaired by Ushijima and
Emily Waters.

Kaneko's art is reminiscent of other big heads
A HUGE ceramic head by
Jun Kaneko is the centerpiece of the Contemporary Museum's artwork that is up for bid at Neiman Marcus. I know people who have such big heads. The retail value is $88,000 and the current high bid is $52,500. The exhibit is part of the museum's fundraising drive. The gala Contempo party is scheduled for Saturday at Neiman's. Call 237-5227 for ticket info ... I like
Brother Noland. There is nothing pretentious or phony about this talented composer, singer and instrumentalist who works with kids at risk to keep them off the street. His latest Mountain Apple CD, "Mystical Fish," arrived in a brown paper bag. That's Brother, all right. The album's fold-out covering sports beautiful photography by
Kim Taylor Reece and eye-catching graphic design by
Keith Usher ...
