Calvary Chapel members take a baptismal plunge off Magic Island

Honolulu resident Caroline Heinrich was baptized yesterday morning by the Rev. James Markwith, pastor of Calvary Chapel, at Magic Island lagoon. Many chapel members disregarded recent concerns about heightened bacterial levels along Oahu's South Shore, accepting the rite as reflective of their faith in God.

Nanakuli resident Robert Salud sang songs of celebration with other chapel members prior to being baptized. Later, Salud reflected on the blessing bestowed upon him and his wife, Harmonie, saying that they both felt "renewed."
