Police seek suspects in 3 bank robberies
Bandits robbed three banks on Oahu yesterday, but police say the robberies are apparently not connected.
Police said a man in his 30s allegedly robbed the Ala Moana branch of Bank of Hawaii at gunpoint.
Police said the suspect entered the bank at 1441 Kapiolani Blvd., showed the teller a handgun and demanded money at 4:37 p.m. The man reached over the counter and allegedly took a "large batch of U.S. currency," police said.
He fled toward Ala Moana Center, and officers could not find him.
The suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds.
Police said a man in his early 20s allegedly robbed the Kalihi branch of Central Pacific Bank yesterday.
At about 5:20 p.m. the suspect walked into the bank and demanded money from the teller. The man got an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. No weapon was used.
The suspect is described as a man about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a slim build.
The Mililani branch of American Savings Bank was robbed last night by a man who flashed a pocketknife.
Police said the suspect walked into the bank brandishing the knife and demanded money from the teller. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of money at 5:48 p.m. He fled on foot.
The man is described in his early 20s and about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
