Crusaders edge the Warriors

Cameron Bayne allowed just three hits and a walk as Saint Louis edged Kamehameha 2-0 in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu game yesterday at Ala Wai Field.

Bayne struck out four batters as the Crusaders improved to 3-5 for the season. They are tied for fourth place with the Warriors in the ILH standings.

Rick Miyamoto put the Crusaders up in the fifth inning, scoring on an RBI groundout by Aaron Awa. Jason Fukumoto then hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to bring in Ryan Sasaki.

Warrior pitcher Kapono Chang also pitched a solid game in a losing effort, allowing just one hit and one walk over five innings.

Mid-Pacific 9, Pac-Five 1

Aaron Fujiki blasted a two-run double to left in the bottom of the first with one out to put the Owls on the board with the go-ahead runs as they rolled over the visiting Wolfpack.

Winning pitcher Matthew McDaniel gave up Pac-Five's lone run on two hits, struck out four and walked only two.

Pac-Five stranded five runners in the loss.

Kaimuki 3, Kalaheo 1

Chauncey Nicola's leadoff triple to right-center field in the bottom of the second put him in scoring position to give the Bulldogs the early lead in their victory over the Mustangs.

After Kalaheo tied things up in the sixth, Kaimuki's John Miyasato drove in the go-ahead run with a single to left field.

Ikaika Ayers went the distance for Kaimuki, spacing four hits, striking out five and walking three.
