Hawaii's Tatsuno a Hall nominee
Former University of Hawaii pitcher Derek Tatsuno is among 46 nominees for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's inaugural class.
The finalists will be announced April 26, followed by an induction ceremony July 4 in Lubbock, Texas.
Tatsuno finished his three-year college career with a 40-6 record and a 2.04 ERA.
He was also the first college pitcher to win 20 games in a season in 1979.
Dave Winfield, Pete Incaviglia and Robin Ventura are among the other nominees.
Winfield led the University of Minnesota as a pitcher and outfielder, and was chosen the Most Outstanding Player of the 1973 College World Series.
Ventura gained national recognition in 1987 with his 58-game hitting streak -- still a Division I record -- and had a career batting average of .428 at Oklahoma State.
Incaviglia was one of college baseball's most feared sluggers, setting the career marks for homers with 100 in just three years at Oklahoma State.
Wichita State's Phil Stephenson, the NCAA career leader in hits, runs, total bases, stolen bases and walks, is also a nominee.
