UH sports selling print-it-yourself tickets online
University of Hawaii sports fans can print out tickets to athletic events on their own computers as early as today.
And by August, another upgrade at hawaiiathletics.com will allow them to transfer tickets to each other online. Also, season-ticket holders who can't make a game will be able to put their ducats up for sale, and receive a 60-percent refund if they are purchased.
UH, in partnership with Aloha Stadium, was scheduled to introduce "Access Management" at a news conference today as the Manoa school becomes the 24th NCAA university to use the system.
"This offers many conveniences for our fans and allows us to upgrade our customer service," UH Associate Athletic Director John McNamara said. "We feel it's user-friendly."
The "Print@Home" system is available for UH's remaining baseball and men's volleyball games. The other features will be up in time for football and women's volleyball in the fall, as well as men's and women's basketball later in the semester.
Fans have been able to buy tickets online for several years, but had to pick them up or have the tickets mailed to them.
Tickets can now be e-mailed to other parties or put back into the system for resale. Bar codes will be printed on the tickets and scanners will be used at the facilities' entrances.
Season-ticket holders can e-mail tickets to another person who can print out the tickets. There will be a $3 fee for each e-mail ticket transfer (regardless of the number of tickets), which will be charged to the recipient.
Season-ticket holders can also return tickets to the online "Ticket Marketplace" system. If their tickets sell, 60 percent of the value will be credited to their account.
Buyers of the returned tickets on "Ticket Marketplace" will pay the face value of the ticket, plus an additional 25 percent (since the seats are in prime locations). Other tickets can still be purchased through HawaiiAthletics.com for their face value and the standard $3 handling charge.
There will be a fee of $1 per order for the print-at-home service. Ticket pick-up and mailing services will still be available, but there will be a $1 fee for Will Call service and a $2 per order mailing fee.
